August is almost over! It has been a very busy summer and is flying by quickly. I have had a great time meeting new people and getting better acquainted with some folks I already knew. Last week I learned a valuable lesson in patience and humility with myself through my clients. I went down Cape for a couple of days to have a little time off and shoot a couple of small weddings while I was down/up cape. I had stayed at work late the night before to catch up on work and then gotten up early to drive to Truro. After I arrived (no traffic at 6:30 am!), I cleaned out my car and the outside of the camper and went bike riding. I took a nap, and then got ready early for the wedding. Everything was set but I couldn't find my keys. I searched everywhere to no avail. Since the car was in front of the camper, that couldn't be driven either. I called a cab and my brides and headed over to the beach. Since they are from out of town, they also called a cab and we were dropped off at opposite ends of the beach. I arrives 30 minutes early. There was no sign of the couple or the minister. I kept asking people on bikes and was about to hitchhike when I found someone who had seen them. We started to walk and walk but nothing. I asked two gentlemen on bikes. They rode up the beach for me and found them. They relayed that we were coming and the brides waited for us. In the end, I was only ten minutes late. It seemed like an eternity that was made worse by not being able to get cell phone service at the beach. Sarajo calmly told me to breathe and after that, it was wonderful evening wedding ended by a spectacular sunset and dinner with new friends. Oh yeah, did I mention it was my birthday? For my present, I got a new perspective on what is REALLY important in life. The keys--never found them despite a very thorough search. I think they went to the dump. Good thing for spare sets and good neighbors and strangers that drove them down to the cape for me. Thank you everyone! It truly was a great birthday!
