Holiday Happenings!

Santa is making a trip to the studio! He is taking plans out of his busy schedule to spend two days at the studio with us. He'll come for more if the demand is really high! He will be coming to visit on Friday, December 11 from 11-4 and Saturday, December 12 from 12-5. Appointments not required but recommended. I can't wait! Packages start at $15.00
The studio is all dressed up for Holiday Portraits. Since we live on the seashore, the theme this year is snowmen and seashells. I'll post a photo of the background soon. Session fee is $25 with a $10 credit towards prints
Gift certificates are available and I am running a special for the month of December. For $50, you can get a studio session and a
5x7 (a $95 value). For $100, you can get an outdoor session and a free 4 x 6 (a $175 value).

August is almost over! It has been a very busy summer and is flying by quickly. I have had a great time meeting new people and getting better acquainted with some folks I already knew. Last week I learned a valuable lesson in patience and humility with myself through my clients. I went down Cape for a couple of days to have a little time off and shoot a couple of small weddings while I was down/up cape. I had stayed at work late the night before to catch up on work and then gotten up early to drive to Truro. After I arrived (no traffic at 6:30 am!), I cleaned out my car and the outside of the camper and went bike riding. I took a nap, and then got ready early for the wedding. Everything was set but I couldn't find my keys. I searched everywhere to no avail. Since the car was in front of the camper, that couldn't be driven either. I called a cab and my brides and headed over to the beach. Since they are from out of town, they also called a cab and we were dropped off at opposite ends of the beach. I arrives 30 minutes early. There was no sign of the couple or the minister. I kept asking people on bikes and was about to hitchhike when I found someone who had seen them. We started to walk and walk but nothing. I asked two gentlemen on bikes. They rode up the beach for me and found them. They relayed that we were coming and the brides waited for us. In the end, I was only ten minutes late. It seemed like an eternity that was made worse by not being able to get cell phone service at the beach. Sarajo calmly told me to breathe and after that, it was wonderful evening wedding ended by a spectacular sunset and dinner with new friends. Oh yeah, did I mention it was my birthday? For my present, I got a new perspective on what is REALLY important in life. The keys--never found them despite a very thorough search. I think they went to the dump. Good thing for spare sets and good neighbors and strangers that drove them down to the cape for me. Thank you everyone! It truly was a great birthday!

Megan Modic

It's been a really busy summer either because of or despite the rain. Megan just returned home from Girls Nation in Washington DC where according to facebook post, she was the Nationalist Party Chairman! Go Megan! I am proud of you,
Nancy (not Pelosi)
Unfortunately, I was unable to go along and photograph the excursion so this is Megan's image from facebook!

Happy July. We are finally seeing some sunshine here after the rainiest June in my memory. I managed to get a few outdoor shoots in and a couple of indoor ones that didn't depend on the weather. I got to photograph a new arrival, Laura Tavares, who is a beautiful addition to Claudia and Michael's family. She was christened last week on a beautiful and sunny Sunday. She was a pleasure to photograph and a even had a smile! I have a busy schedule ahead--I am going on an engagement shoot tonight at Nobska light and still have several families left to photograph from the PTA fundraiser. Everyone had to be moved around cause of the rain. Also, I am starting to get busy with high school seniors and weddings. I am having a blast and things are going much better than I expected with this economy. Best of all, I am meeting some really nice people.

June 2009

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY ...at least 'til I get my outdoor photoshoots done! I have had a very busy month and now July will be really busy as well. I am trying to complete a very successful Bourne PTA Family Beach Shoot fundraiser but the weather has not been cooperating. It is a good thing I travelled to Florida earlier in the month or I don't think I'd have seen the sun at all. (Just like everyone else). I am trying to keep an optimistic outlook but it is getting harder and harder to do when almost every morning the sky is gray and gloomy. I shot my first wedding of the season and did my first upcoming seniors and several Bourne families.
I also found a couple of shoots I can do despite the rain. Past clients of mine, Jack and Alex are going to pose in the rain in their brand new rain outfits, jackets boots and hats. I am going to enter these into a professional photographers' competition. I am planning on an awesome shoot!  I am doing 4 week old Laura Tavares today--indoors. I was able to get images of her (in utero) as I did her parents images a few weeks ago. I can't wait to meet her! I bet she is beautiful. Next, I am doing an in home photo shoot of a large family of a former colleague, DD, in her lovely home. At least there will be no cancellations due to the rain!
My HS senior reps for this year are marvelous. Congratulations to all three young women, Megan Modic, Bethany Ashworth and (my own) Rebecca Faria who attended the Girls' State conference at Westfield State College last week. Megan was then chosen to attend Girls' Nation in DC and meet Barrack Obama! Way to go Megan!!!! In closing, keep your chin up, the rain will end sometime and now is a good time to complete all those indoor projects.

I can't believe that it has been almost a month since I last posted a blog update. Sorry if anyone was anxiously awaiting my next post. I let time slip away! On Sunday, it will be Mother's Day. I have been very busy at the studio and I went on vacation with my family so I am bit behind! This month, I have taken commercial photos for The Belfry Inne and Bistro on Jarves Street in Sandwich, MA, some beautiful and fun 1st Communion Photos, Lauren's 3 month photos (already?) along with a casual shoot for the Mother's Day tea at the Bourne Library. I also booked two weddings and a family reunion. I'm learning to wear all the hats in my small business but it has certainly been a transition from working in medicine for 25 years and working for someone else. I am enjoying all the hard work and the sanctity of my cozy little studio just Main Street in Falmouth. I can adjust my appointments around my kids schedule of LAX and track and work at home if I need to. Our contractors have left, our beautiful new dormer is done and i don't have to worry about moving my car out the garage before 8 am if I want to go anywhere without a hassle (like to work)! Here are some recent photos.

Easter Shoot

Mr. Buttons was a smash hit at his studio debut! Despite a couple of sleepless nights wondering how my sister's rabbit Mr. Buttons would fare in the Easter Special portraits, he was marvelous.
He was handled by two year olds and kissed by by four year olds and he never flinched or ran away. I'm posting a couple of shots from the sessions-- we had a lot of fun and Mr. Buttons wants to make a return trip next year! Hope to see you then,
Nancy

Photos with Lauren

I had the pleasure of photographing the Molis Family last weekend. Stephen and Amy and their beautiful new baby girl Lauren spent two hours with me in the camera room and another hour viewing the session with Stephen's parents. I had plans for the session but Lauren had her own ideas. I have to say that this is the youngest baby I've photographed so I am learning to take my cues from the babies. I can't wait to do my next session! What a joy she is It'll be fun to watch her grow and as the first grandchild on both sides, she's sure to get a lot of attention! Her photos will be hanging in the Sovereign Bank Lobby on Gifford Street in Falmouth soon so stop by and take a look at my photography up close and in person. Don't forget to call and schedule your own photo session (508-563-7929). See you soon,
Nancy
